Aim for Pathetic

Sermon Notes: (A pathetic 100 word summary) on Reverend Denise's sermon Sept 27, 2020 (UUFCC State College PA)

    Pathetic Spiritual Practice

"Aim for Pathetic."  We often try to commit a few hours a week to a goal.  Many times, we cannot keep up that level of commitment and we drop the goal when we are interrupted by illness or other high priority things.  During this time of coronavirus, let's aim for pathetic goals.  A pathetic visit with friends, pathetic sex, a pathetic date, pathetic exercise.  Aim for 5 or 10 minutes per day.  Any daily practice repeated for 8 to 10 weeks can change your life.

Spiritually, try for pathetic journalism (writing in a journal), short walks, listening  to music, a stretch (yoga), day dreaming, taking a photograph, or a short review of your day.  Talk to your friends, text, or post on social media about your life, your challenges, and these short spiritual practices---connect.  Erect a pathetic alter: post-it notes, pictures, a jar filled with gratitude notes, or sentimental objects placed together in your home.

Repeating a short pathetic spiritual practice daily pays great dividends.
